HI GRANDPA, HI GRANDMA (author unknown)

(Melody - 'Hi Lily, Hi Lo)

Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi ho.
Your union has been strong and true
As together you did climb.
Fifty-five years is a long time
And we thank you for all you still do
To make our lives happy , and our prayer is,
Dear Grandpa, dear Grandma, dear both.
That you will have many more years like this,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi Ho.

Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi both.
We've loved you both as we came to know
How you made a farm to grow.
A farm is a beautiful, great thing
For it causes a family to know
Whenever we go from the old homestead,
Why Mother, why Daddy, we long
To come back and smell that good home-made bread
And then we're back where we belong.

Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert.
Your life has had its joys sublime
And plenty of dessert.
Your life has been a love song
With happiness and hurt.
You've sat at the window and watched the rain,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert,
And always the sunshine did come again,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert.

THE ESTHER BOETTCHER SONG (by Martha Hlavacek)

(Melody - 'Oklahoma')

Es------ther Boettcher
You have worked so hard all of your life.
All those kids of yours; doing all those chores;
You were a super mother and a wife.

Es------ther Boettcher
The farmland was your home for years.
Oh, the life was rough, but you were tough;
There was laughter mixed with all the tears.

Happy birthday from all the Zim Clan!
You're the tops and we think you are grand!

And so we sa------y
Happy Birthday, Happy Day;
We're only saying, you're looking fine, Esther Boettcher!
Esther Boettcher, okay E-S-T-H-E-R
Esther Boettcher, Okay!!

HOLSTEINS - (by Wilma Christ)

(Melody - 'Edelweise')

Ho-l-steins, Ho-l-steins
Ev-'ry morn-ing you greet me.
Black and white,
Ud-ders tight,
You look re-lieved to see me!

Refrain:
Buck-et of milk
May you fill and froth,
Fill and froth for-ev-er.
Ho-l-steins, Ho-l-steins,
Bless my cow-barn for-ever.

Squeeze and pull, squeeze and pull.
White milk fil-ls the buck-et.
Squirt at me,
Squirt at me,
And then I'll try to duck it!

Refrain:

2-Page Zimm history from Lynn

Lyn wrote this for school after Grandpa Z's 75th birthday. It's easy reading and well worth the time! Lynn thinks he was a sophmore at the time.
