(Melody - 'Hi Lily, Hi Lo)
Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi ho.
Your union has been strong and true
As together you did climb.
Fifty-five years is a long time
And we thank you for all you still do
To make our lives happy , and our prayer is,
Dear Grandpa, dear Grandma, dear both.
That you will have many more years like this,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi Ho.
Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Grandpa, Hi Grandma, Hi both.
We've loved you both as we came to know
How you made a farm to grow.
A farm is a beautiful, great thing
For it causes a family to know
Whenever we go from the old homestead,
Why Mother, why Daddy, we long
To come back and smell that good home-made bread
And then we're back where we belong.
Fifty-five years is a long time,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert.
Your life has had its joys sublime
And plenty of dessert.
Your life has been a love song
With happiness and hurt.
You've sat at the window and watched the rain,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert,
And always the sunshine did come again,
Hi Esther, Hi Esther, Hi Bert.

THE ESTHER BOETTCHER SONG (by Martha Hlavacek)
(Melody - 'Oklahoma')
Es------ther Boettcher
You have worked so hard all of your life.
All those kids of yours; doing all those chores;
You were a super mother and a wife.
Es------ther Boettcher
The farmland was your home for years.
Oh, the life was rough, but you were tough;
There was laughter mixed with all the tears.
Happy birthday from all the Zim Clan!
You're the tops and we think you are grand!
And so we sa------y
Happy Birthday, Happy Day;
We're only saying, you're looking fine, Esther Boettcher!
Esther Boettcher, okay E-S-T-H-E-R
Esther Boettcher, Okay!!
Es------ther Boettcher
You have worked so hard all of your life.
All those kids of yours; doing all those chores;
You were a super mother and a wife.
Es------ther Boettcher
The farmland was your home for years.
Oh, the life was rough, but you were tough;
There was laughter mixed with all the tears.
Happy birthday from all the Zim Clan!
You're the tops and we think you are grand!
And so we sa------y
Happy Birthday, Happy Day;
We're only saying, you're looking fine, Esther Boettcher!

HOLSTEINS - (by Wilma Christ)
(Melody - 'Edelweise')
Ho-l-steins, Ho-l-steins
Ev-'ry morn-ing you greet me.
Black and white,
Ud-ders tight,
You look re-lieved to see me!
Refrain:
Buck-et of milk
May you fill and froth,
Fill and froth for-ev-er.
Ho-l-steins, Ho-l-steins,
Bless my cow-barn for-ever.
Squeeze and pull, squeeze and pull.
White milk fil-ls the buck-et.
Squirt at me,
Squirt at me,
And then I'll try to duck it!
Refrain:

One small step
Unbelievable. I am blogging. Next thing you know, I will turn off the block on text messaging on my cell phone. Anyway, a few have responded to children and ages. I don't think there are a lot of young ones to be around. I did plan on bringing our yard games as well even though croquet w/ my immediate family has not really been a fun, bonding time. Here is what I have planned so far: Bingo, croquet, horseshoes (ours are rubber) and Sigrid's slip 'n slide. Nothing grand, but I thought these were games that adults and children can play together. Should we also bring the poker chips?

Friday Fish fry, Sunday brunch
I NEED A HEAD COUNT FOR FISH FRY, VERY IMPORTANT TO GET BACK TO ME ASAP. Please check with everyone in your family and let me know who will be comming for fish fry at 6:00 pm Friday July 4th. cmz4474@yahoo.com Friday Fish Fry has been mooved from Homestead Inn to JaMars, also on HWY 52 comming out of Wausau. Homestead will not be open July 4th, so I had to moove it. Sunday brunch.......the BIG ZIMMS have declined to be in charge of brunch on Sunday. Compleatly understandable. When you only see everyone every 5 yrs, we forget how much things change, and now they want to retire from brunch duty. So.... now its time for the Little Zimms and the Mini Zimms to pick it up from here. Im sure this will not be a problem, we learned how to cook from the BIG ZIMMS. Friday before dinner, plan to meet at the farm by 5:30. Bring snacks, drinks, and ice. We will have a keg of beer for the weekend. Im taking votes on favorite beer, and if it comes in a keg, Ill get it. Please get back to me by June 26 so I can let JaMars know how many are comming for fish fry. they are setting is up buffet style, but need a close count.

Hey, this is great!
It took me a minute to find the NEW button at the top to post a comment. Hope this works; I consider myself IT challenged as well.
We are looking into reserving some rooms and notifying ALL that we're moovin the slumber party from the Super8 to the Hampton Inn. Stay tuned. I spoke to Chris about it. He was good enough to set us up at Super8 but after staying at the newly refurbished Hampton and then finding out Caroline and her clan will be there with the rest of the Serley wedding party, it seems like a better fit.
Are we having the game "Are you smarter than a Zimmermann?..."

It's implied in the original message that "
To learn more about Blogger and starting your own free blog visit http://www.blogger.com. " will get you set up to access the Zim blog. Not so.
This takes you to a site to set your own blog.
One must set up and account in "Google".
This may save some time for the other IT - challenged folks.

Bingo and white elephant gifts
One of the games will be bingo. We're asking that everyone bring a white elephant gift. The gifts will be used as bingo prizes. Thanks!
Welcome!
Hey! The 2008 Zimm reunion "committee" agreed that a blog might be the easiest way to communicate about the reunion, ask for responses, post recipes and the family history, and allow us to get in contact with each other in the future.
If you are a descendent or an outlaw of a descendent of Herbert and Esther Zimmermann of Wausau, Wi, please use this blog and let your fellow Zimms know what's up with you.
